Day 1 | Tokyo to Lake Yamanaka

Leave early, avoid Tokyo traffic and ease into the trip on Fuji's eastern lakeshore.

Leave Tokyo

Drive —Stay —

Leave before 7:30 if possible. A Narita pickup after 1 pm is too late for a full sightseeing day.

WEATHER SWAP

A cloudy Fuji day does not have to be a lost day.

Reduce viewpoints and switch to Iyashi-no-Sato, a lava cave, roadside station or onsen. Follow official road notices for snow, ice and closures.

CAR & LUGGAGE

The route is manageable; luggage fit needs checking first.

A sedan or SUV may suit 2–4 people. Groups of 5–7 with large cases should check luggage space with the third row in use. Winter tyres and 4WD depend on dates and road conditions.

COST CHECK

Budget tolls, fuel and parking separately.

Actual costs vary by Tokyo start point, vehicle, routing and parking. We avoid fragile fixed prices and recommend an official toll and parking check before departure.

FINAL CHECK

Conditions change, so keep your route flexible.
